Ode to the running shoe.......

Size 11.  And I'm not referring to my pant size.  That's my ginormous shoe size.  Who cares, you say!  I care.  I'm 5'3".  Yeah, you read that right.  I wear a size 11 shoe have a head the size of a watermelon and nothing in between stretched far enough to be called tall.  When my husband and I were dating, my future MIL asked me why I was wearing his shoes.  And she wasn't joking.  Not only are my feet huge, they are flat as a pancake.  I'm also bow legged and pigeon toed.  Major problem.  I was so bow legged when I was little my parents had to put Forest Gump braces on my legs at night to sleep.  Seriously.  And "f" off for laughing!!!!!   I have a hell of a time finding the right shoes.  Nothing was different when I began the search for the "perfect" running shoe.

We live on a ranch 21 miles from the closest town and 100 miles from a Walmart.  I rarely run on pavement.  This is my running "track" most days and while I love it, it does provide it's hazards aka cow and horse shit dotting the road for miles.  Most of the time I feel like I'm playing a game of hop scotch instead of actually running.  But believe me, you DO NOT want to step in that crap.  Especially on a warm day.  That shit's so squishy you would fall flat on your ass if you slid into that.  I thought for sure I would want a trail shoe.  So, I customized my own from Nike and thought they were super badass.  Husker Red colors and perfect to also wear to game days!  Loved them.  Then I put them on.  WTF!  The foot bed was wrinkled and felt like I needed to adjust my socks every 5 seconds.  That's not ok with me.  I'm OCD and little things annoy the shit out of me.

It was onto the next pair and of course I had to get Nike cause I have a Nike running watch and was obsessed with plugging it in and downloading my run immediately after I came in the house.   My wonderful sister has since solved that problem for me cause she got me a Garmin for Christmas and of course had to give it to me early!!!  She ROCKS!
The shoes did not rock for running though but I decided I should definately keep them cause they are all black and those would be the perfect dressy game day shoe for volleyball.  The next pair was again Nike and have the Shield + and they are perfectly waterproof and warm.  Not so cushioned though so for longer runs they hurt my feet.  But again, kept them.  Because how could I not when they came in so handy in the Jingle Bell 5k when it was snowing/wet/cold.  My feet stayed dry and warm.  Bonus!  If you sense a pattern here you should.  And if you don't you're stupid not paying attention!  By now I have 3 pairs of running shoes that I don't really like to run in.
You'll be happy to know that after 2 months of searching for the perfect shoe, I'm somewhat satisfied with the Asics I now have.  They are comfy, I haven't fallen down/twisted my ankle yet and they look pretty sweet too.  :)

  1. Which pattern should I be paying attention for....the shoe fetish or the swearing, lol!!!
P.S. I just dreadmilled it just for you who suffer on those damn things more then I do....and I now bow to your greatness. I kinda wanted to die at .75 miles.
P.S.S. Your custom Nike's do rock, especially at Memorial Stadium.

Here goes nothing!

Recently my sister got me started reading blogs.  Funny, laugh out loud, real life people doing and saying things that make me laugh.  Love them!  So, having no extra time in my day, I decided I'd give it a try.  Why the hell not.  My life is full of stupid crap that no one everyone will want to read about.  First thing I had to come up with a name.  Problem was, everything I could think of was not appropriate for some that might read this.  Those that know me, know that I cuss.  Alot.  It's a terrible thing some of the filth that comes out of my mouth.  So, disclaimer..... I CUSS ALOT !!!!!!   Recently I started running.  I used to despise the thought of it.  I had visions of passing out while jogging 1/4 of a mile and would lay there till my husband, a hired man, or one of the horses/cows/dogs would find me.   But let's face it.  I'm not getting any younger.  And what's the best thing for finding one's abs   becoming a healthier person, RUNNING.  So, I star

Where the hell's that Woodchuck??!!!!

Evil little bastards........I don't go out much.  I don't drink often.  And I know why.  I'm just not a young kid like I once was.  It's hard on a gal to recover the next day.  I'm going to blame it on Tara myself. She always FORCES us girls to drink Washington Apples.  Extra yummy but I'm really starting to not like all this peer pressure............It would be rude of me to say, "no I don't want your f'n drink".  I'm just not that person.  I  reluctantly willingly agree every time she "forces" one upon me.  Also rude to not drink the Woodchuck that so many kind souls bought me.  And thanks to my wonderful sister for putting this pic of me on facebook.  Notice the beautiful crooked way my face looks.  WTF!!! This one is much better.............. We had a wonderful evening with GREAT friends and I really don't feel THAT bad today.  Just like this guy who got his ass ran over by a truck..... Later on the hubb
